Updating again!

Hey hey hey guys, I know it's been a long time, but I'm finally going to be updating here again! I was going to notify you guys about my hiatus when I somehow got hired at Copernicus Studios for 6 weeks (my LinkedIn still says I work there, but that's only because I can't figure out how to change it), but I kinda got wrapped up with that, and the last 5-ish months since then have basically been a mixture of a fruitless job search, lots of personal problems, and failing tablet. Now that I've managed to get a more humble job to tide me over until I can get an animation gig again, I've bought myself a new tablet and will be doing some more models, rigs, and especially animations to make a completely new demo reel that I can be satisfied with. I've still been doing some classical drawing (thanks to my new drawing desk!), so I'll share a few cool pictures I did with you.
Dogcar matte painting, finished.

Same, but minimalist version. Makes a great background picture.

Picture of a friend.

Picture of another friend's OC.

Picture of my OC. Massive yellow glare from overhead
light going on, and I've shaded it since taking this.

I also made a picture of Gastrodon (from Pokemon) for my brother, but I apparently didn't take a picture of it, so maybe I can convince him to scan it and I'll post it here next time. I'll also try to get some flash animations, and probably a good environment model. So yeah! Nice to see you here again, and I hope you all have a good time! Enjoy the wait until my next groovy demo reel!

Reel time, for reel this time!

Sorry I never uploaded one last quarter, but I can say that I have learned more about compression codecs because of it. Anyways, I intend to update this blog once every 2 weeks (let's be realistic here) for the next 3 months, so I hope to see you soon. For now, enjoy the reels!

Hey, I actually updated 2 weeks later, this is an achievement. Congratulations, Jeremy.

Anyways, here's an update on my Lip Sync that's in progress now (more like WIP sync).

Song is "Arisen Anew" by Joren DeBruin, voice clip from the Doctor Who episode "Blink." Mouth is the next step, you don't need to ask.

Also, I've been doing a lot of matte painting recently, so here's the first finished sample.
Conveniently available in desktop background size because all matte paintings should be at least that size and I like the idea of making images I can use as backgrounds. Expect a paralaxing version of this by the next update.

Yeah, until next time, see ya!

Recent work updates

Hey there everyone, looks like it's time for a blog update! After a brief setback, may I present the recent renders of my environment model and daybat sculpt.

Next update will likely include one of several newer projects: a new animation with the Daybat, a 2D lip sync, a new, low-poly character model, and a new robot model, depending on which I decide to finish first (they're really not going to be that difficult to all finish in 2 weeks).

Until next time!

5th Semester Demo Reel

5th semester demo reel, starring "Dogcar!" Also featuring the tank, my character, and the final performance of my space kitchen. Next term will have a new character and environment, plus plenty new animations, which are coming along quite well so far. Music credits at the end, Toby Fox and Seth Peele.

Edit: I finally posted with more than a demo reel! Check out the post below. It's more recent, but I always want to make sure my latest demo reel is the first thing on here, so, enjoy a non-demo reel post for once!

Thanks for watching!

Dogcar completed!

Hey folks, looks like I kept my word this time! I present to you the finished project "Dogcar," modelled, textured, and re-rigged with more wonderful IK joints! Maps include colour, specular, bump, reflection colour, transparency, and luminescence, in order of importance. Background of the render below will be included in my next demo reel.

From his biography in the design pack I made: "Dogcar is a revolutionary new advancement from Becquerel Industrial, meant to increase the speed and fuel efficiency of travel by inspiration from natural design. Dogcar comes pre-programmed with personalities of its own which you can choose and change at your own will. Watch as Dogcar reacts differently to people when they have
the remote door opener! It’s all the fun of a pet and convenience of a car in one.
Becquerel industries: active in your life." (Please note 'Becquerel industries' is not a real company.)

And, in addition, I present the base mesh for a ZBrush sculpt I will be working on, a familiar face if you've seen my previous demo reels:
This guy! I plan on rigging him and adding blend shapes if I have the time, so that I can animate him.

Anyway, that's all for now, so thanks for visiting! I hope to see you back here soon!

4th Quarter Demo Reel

Didn't I complain about my lack of updates last time?
Hello again folks, here it is, my demo reel for my fourth quarter-year at the Centre. Now complete with prop and character models, as well as a textured tank, some compositing, and some new animations in 3D and 2D.

Q4 Demo Reel - Jeremy Richard from Jeremy Richard on Vimeo.

Since I've made this, I've redone my character model and completely rigged him (minus the blend shapes, which I'm currently in the process of doing). Expect me to finally get my act together and post in another few months with my fully rigged character and the game design from the quarter I just posted (the one with the cute slug and that tentacled thing). Until then, enjoy my reel!
